Mahindra XUV 3XO: The Mahindra XUV 3XO is a large step up above the compact SUV offerings from the brand and is a more evolved vehicle based on the XUV300 that has proved to be successful while offering a big leap forward in terms of design, technology and features.

This extensive refresh further reinforces Mahindra’s determination to keep its competitors at bay in one of India’s most hotly-contested car categories.

Mahindra XUV 3XO: Design Transformation

Mahindra XUV 3XO

The design language has taken a big step forward from its previo us, we have to say the new generation XUV 3XO looks a lot sharper.

At the front is a big grille similar to the one on the Veloster flanked by slimmer LED headlamps and C-shaped daytime running lights.

It’s the second approach that is the most interesting as it generates visual width and immediate family resemblance to larger Mahindra SUVs – such as the XUV700 and the like.

The OakSipper A front-end retains the signature character, while featuring larger headlamps and a more pronounced front grille with a new ‘motor-hailing grille pattern.’

Fadeaway lines on the side profile keep the XUV300’s proportions but introduce more sculpted surfaces and character lines to cut visual mass.

The new car has new alloy wheel designs and starts from 16-inchers on lower trims and going up-to 17-inch wheels on higher or top spec trims.

In the back, there are joined LED taillamps, and rear bumper and reflectors to give it a more modern look in line with design trends of today.

Interior Refinement

Xuv 3Xo interiors As with the exterior, the existing interior has been given a thorough overhaul with the latest XUV 3XO.

The all-new dashboard comes in horizontal design and features a large 10.25-inch free-standing touchscreen infotainment system placed in the middle. Material is a step up with soft-touch surfaces and piano black trim and the overall ambience is of quality.

Either a partial or completely digital instrument cluster is available (depending on trim level) with selectable layouts and information screens.

Ambient lighting comes in a variety of colors, setting the tone for the drive ahead, while the night-driving mood is further enhanced by an atmosphere of calm serenity.

Technology Integration

Key technology items take pride of place in the XUV 3XO and Mahindra has bestowed it with quite a few feature including some that are segment-first: 1.

powerful AdrenoX connected car technology, featuring 60+ smart features

Integration of Wireless Apple CarPlay and Wireless Android Auto

Cooling wireless charger for smartphone

Automatic dual-zone climate control

Panoramic sunroof where it’s one of the biggest in segment

360-degree surround view monitor with blind spot monitor

Level 2 ADAS technologies such as adaptive cruise control and AEB

These additions put the XUV 3XO right up there in the fray in terms of competition from newer contestants, while also addressing the criticism that the XUV300 was missing some tech features that can be had in some rival offerings.

Powertrain Options

The XUV 3XO gets the same engines options but have been slightly tweaked for better driveability and fuel efficiency. The 1.2-litre turbo-petrol makes 110PS/200Nm, also doing so is the 1.5-litre diesel’s 115PS/300Nm— bo th pretty competitive numbers for its class.

Transmission are a 6-speed Manual as standard and depending on the engine selected, an AMT or all-new 6-speed Torque Converter Automatic.

The smoother torque converter automatic comes in response to feedback on the AMT’s drivability, especially in stop and go urban conditions.

Several driving modes (Zip, Zap and Zoom) adjust throttle response and steering weight to adapt to driving conditions and style, which makes it more versatile.

Safety Credentials

Safety is an area of strength for the XUV 3OO with its 5-star Global NCAP safety rating for the XUV300. The construction of the vehicle also retains the solid engineering that gained for this rating and now incorporates the following with the above:

Thesix airbags as standard across the range

Hill-hold control, with electronic stability program

Park sensors (front and rear)

ISOFIX child seat anchors

Tire Pressure Monitoring System

Four-disc brakes on all of the higher-end trims

All these safety provisions ensure that Mahindra continues to be a safety leader in the compact SUV category.

Practical Enhancements

Practical limitations of the XUV300 have also been attended to in the 3X0 with a redesigned rear cargo area to up capacity and usability.

While the sub-four-meter overall length has to be maintained, the re-sculpted boot provides better usable area and easier loading. Interior storage is addressed with more cubbies and better door pockets.

Mahindra XUV 3XO:

Overall, the Mahindra XUV 3XO is an evolutionary step forward that retains the inherent strengths that defined its predecessor in terms of safety, strong engines and good driving dynamics while bringing in key enhancements across design, technology and equipment features.

These updates make the car competitive with the more modern rivals such as the Tata Nexon, Hyundai Venue and Kia Sonet.

By resolving customer complaints about the XUV300 and adding some modern touches, Mahindra has made an appearance that is stronger than ever in the increasingly crowded compact sub-4m SUV market.
